Interior Boat Detail Giveaway

The Northern Lakes Boat Co "detail crew" typically gives all their attention to about 60 boats per year. They often have 1 or 2 boats in the detail bay at a time, spending 2-4 days on each, depending on the extent of the work required. This means that when a boat is dropped off at the shop the team will spend, on average, 12 hours on a boat that does NOT require buffing. If buffing is required to remove oxidized gelcoat, a team of 2 - 3 people may spend up to twenty-five hours detailing a 22-25' boat. It is certainly a time-consuming and labor-intensive process that they love. The most rewarding part is seeing the reaction of boat owners when the boats are picked up. The most common statement heard is, "It looks like a new boat!" - which tends to put as big a smile on the faces of the detail crew as it does the boat owner.

This year, Northern Lakes plans to expand their reach from 60 to 100 happy boat owners. Spring and fall are the busiest times of year for boat detailing, while July and August are very slow for obvious reasons. That's why, in 2026, their plan is to increase the dock-side detailing during those mid-summer months. The team will be making more house calls to docks on Torch Lake, Elk Lake and other area lakes, as well as making trips to local marinas and yacht clubs to provide interior yacht cleaning services. The latter is their current focus with a new promotion beginning this week. They'll be giving away 3 FREE interior boat detail jobs to promote this service. It will be a raffle style giveaway open to any boat owner who enters with a boat of at least 25' in length, residing in a marina or yacht club in Grand Traverse Bay, Elk Rapids, East Jordan or Charlevoix.
