Our Why...
Matt Keiper, the owner of Northern Lakes Boat Co., is a retired Coast Guard rescue pilot, ASA-certified sailing instructor, and USCG-licensed captain with decades of maritime experience. As a lifelong boater, he understands the significant costs associated with boat ownership. But he also knows that boats, of any size and shape, make available some of Michigan's most breathtaking waterways and hidden wild places. They are the key to comfortably enjoying & sharing MI's natural beauty w/ family & friends.
As a Traverse City boat owner, Matt quickly became dissatisfied with the area's marine service providers. He felt that exploring MI's lakes should be simpler, less expensive, and more accessible. "Wouldn't it be nice if 99% of a boat owner's problems could be solved with one phone call to one trusted, local business?"
