THE ANCIENT ORIGIN OF “AUTUMN"

The word AUTUMN comes from an ancient Northern Michigan dialect.

“AU" (No); “TUMN” (Time) - Which roughly translates to "No Time” when describing work which needs to be done before a certain period of the year.

Or, Historically, this term was used to describe the long list of chores and short time window between the end of summer and onset of freezing temps.

Every fall, the ancient ritual begins:

☐ Get the boat out

☐ Winterize the engine

☐ Wash the boat (bottom staining)

☐ Clean the carpets

☐ Pull the docks

☐ Pull the hoist

☐ Shrink-wrap the boat?

☐ Put the boat in storage

☐ Rake leaves and the rest of the house chores

☐ Promise yourself you'll start earlier next year

And then there's that one guy who says:

“I’ll just do it myself.” - We'll see you in December. 😂
